The new Wurzeralm funicular takes 1,450 people per hour to the starting point of numerous hiking and climbing tours.

One of the fastest funiculars

Summer tourism in the Phyrn-Priel vacation region received a boost: The new Wurzeralm funicular has been in operation since August 2020 and can carry up to 1,450 people per hour to the top station at over 1,400 meters above sea level - the ideal starting point for numerous hikes as well as mountain bike and climbing tours. The largest highland moor of the Eastern Limestone Alps can also be easily reached with the Wurzeralm funicular.

“Our goal was to be able to transport as many people as possible as comfortably, and of course as safely, as possible. The Wurzeralm, which is one of the fastest funiculars in the world, was a great success,” says Carvatech managing director Ing. Robert Vockenhuber, satisfied. “Right now, there is a tremendous longing for nature, outdoor exercise, and the mountains. With that in mind, the Wurzeralm is coming at just the right time to give guests the opportunity to satisfy this need.”

Equipment with maximum safety

The new Wurzeralm’s two carriages each hold 140 passengers and are divided into six compartments. Entry and exit are controlled by two electromechanical sliding doors each. Safety glazing in tempered glass, an automatic fire alarm system, and an automatic extinguishing system in the technical areas ensure maximum safety. During the ride, passengers are entertained by a centrally controlled infotainment system. Features such as special anti-slip coating, folding seats, and a ventilation system with electromechanical lifting roofs, and fans in each compartment provide additional comfort.
